Take a look at this art project inspired by Yellow Umbrella (the book I posted about on Monday)! Julie Liddle of Art in Hand shared these photos with me and I thought you all might like to see them, too. She said these were some of her favorite paintings by any of her classes (which I'm sure is saying a lot!).
Julie provided pre-cut circles of colored tissue paper for the "umbrellas" and plenty of paint. She said the key was having white paint for them to blend with the colors to make them sort of muted like in the book. Beautiful! I think I'll have to try this with Maia in the studio soon...
I like the idea of reading a beautifully illustrated book with your child for inspiration to try a different art style.
