It's been a while since I last made some new pieces for Maia's felt board. So this weekend I got out the felt and some of the templates I had printed out ages ago (you can do a search for "felt board templates" or something similar to find images to print out and use).
First I made a couple of houses and an apartment building.
The details are cut out of fabric and adhered to the felt with Pellon fusible interfacing. I iron interfacing to several different fabrics, then cut out the little details as I need them and iron them onto the felt.
Then I created a mailman and several letters to be delivered. Maia and I played with this for a while together, making up stories about who sent the letters and what was written on them.
Maia hasn't shown much interest in the felt board lately and I think it's because she hasn't had any new pieces to play with in a while. So my aim is to create several sets of felt pieces, especially ones that she/we can use for storytelling since she's into that right now. First up is a set of animals, by special request, including a lion, a tiger, and a zebra. Then maybe some pieces from classic fairy tales. And possibly a felt alphabet as well. Any other ideas?
