Maia and I have been busy tracing fall leaves and "painting" them in with melting crayon. This project is basically the same as these stained glass melts we did earlier in the year from MaryAnn Kohl's Preschool Art, except with fall leaves. As before, we used a hot cookie sheet instead of a warming tray.
The crayons are Melissa and Doug, which I'm actually not crazy about (although they got a perfect 5 stars on Amazon so I guess other people are), and only kept for melted crayon projects. There's no paper to peel off, which is a bonus.
Afterward, we tried out our new gold liquid watercolor paint by painting over the melted crayon leaves. By the way, see the green cabinet in the background? A friend passed it on to me and I love it in the studio! I haven't actually transferred any art supplies to it yet, but soon! Maybe today. I think the thin drawers on the top would be ideal for different kinds of papers. And the bottom drawers will have to hold things that are okay for Daphne to get into since she loves opening them.
And here are the melted crayon leaves hanging on the drying wall. We have plans for these! I'll keep you posted...
