We're operating on a two-hour delay this morning because of the icy roads here. Harry cooked us a pancake breakfast before heading off to work and while we ate I asked Maia if I could interview her for my blog.
JEAN: So, what do you like to eat for breakfast, Maia?
MAIA: Pancakes, waffles, and french toast. (giggles) I almost said french fries instead of french toast for breakfast! (more giggles)
JEAN: I heard you tell Daddy last night that you wanted to change your name. What name would you rather have?
MAIA: Rosabella. Cause it's a pretty name.
JEAN: Hmm. Yes. That is a pretty name. Okay, next question. If you could do anything in the world, what would you do?
MAIA: Do art with you.
JEAN: What kind of art do you like to make?
MAIA: Every kind! Every single kind of art!
JEAN: What's your favorite color?
MAIA: Every color! Every color in the whole world! (pause) Let's do favorite flowers now.
JEAN: Okay, what's your favorite flower, Maia?
MAIA: Every kind, because they are so beautiful and cute!
Okay, sensing a trend, I decided that was enough insight into 5-year-old Maia's world for the moment.
