Happy Thanksgiving! The pies are cooling and our rolls are rising. I'm on a brief baking lull and thought I'd post a quick hello. Our Thanksgiving plans have changed abruptly as we found out that one of the little friends we were going to spend the day with woke up with a stomach bug. Instead of having a big feast with friends, we are now going to have a rather smaller family meal. While we were initially bummed (and Maia still is), I have to say that we have so much to be thankful for. Not the least of which is that we have each other and we are all healthy. That's a lot right there.
I also wanted to say how thankful I am to have you and this community that has grown up around The Artful Parent. I love this space and am so glad that you have helped create it by showing up, reading, commenting, asking and answering questions, and just by joining me on this artful journey. It's easier and more fun to do with friends, even if I haven't met many of you in person. Thank you.
What are you thankful for today?
Update: We ended up celebrating Thanksgiving with our friends after all! Their daughter rallied and they decided that she didn't have a stomach bug after all and had just reacted to some food that didn't agree with her. We all had a wonderful time!
