I have been loving all these artful giveaways, by the way! Besides sharing wonderful companies, products, and people, the excitement generated is so much fun for me. I especially love e-mailing people to let them know they won something on my blog! Everyone is so thrilled and most say they usually never win anything. My Barefoot Books Giveaway Details
Set One is for Older Kids (These are Maia's Favorites):
The Barefoot Book of Dance Stories by Jane Yolen and Heidi E.Y. Stemple with absolutely gorgeous illustrations by Helen Cann is Maia's very favorite book at the moment. She wants to read a story (or as many as she can get away with) from this every night at bedtime. It is filled with a collection of dance stories from around the world and comes with a story CD (by Juliet Stevenson) as well.
Kids' Kitchen: 40 Fun and Healthy Recipes to Make and Share by Fiona Bird and illustrated by Roberta Arenson has an important place in our kitchen. I wrote about this set of colorful and fun recipe cards here. We love them! Maia has been cooking more and more these days and is especially interested in making things by herself.
Set Two is for Younger Kids (These are Daphne's Favorites):
The Animal Boogie by Debbie Harter is SO fun and is not just one of Daphne's favorites, but mine, too! Kids and animals move and shake in this sing along book with catchy words and super-saturated illustrations. It comes with a music CD (sung by Fred Penner), but I usually sing it myself—it just makes me happy!
As much as we love all the other books and recipe cards above, this box set of four Bear on the Go puzzles is a complete passion of Daphne's. When I first wrote about them here, I said that Daphne had done each puzzle three times. I have lost count by now, but I'd guess at least thirty times each would be about accurate. She calls these puzzles her "spaceship game" (her favorite of the four puzzles depicts bear on a spaceship) and asks for them all the time and even insists on bringing them with her when we go places. I think it helps that they come in a box with a handle. :)
