I'm driving to Nashville, Tennessee, today for the BlissDom blog conference. I have the car packed with music, audio books, and snacks and I can hardly believe have the next five hours to myself in the car! Usually car drives involve mediating the needs of four different people, including two small but very vocal beings. Needless to say, this peace- and quiet-loving mama will thoroughly enjoy the solo road trip.
But as thrilled as I am about having a little time to myself on the ride, I'm even more excited about the actual blog conference which will most definitely not be about peace and quiet, but rather connecting with other bloggers and learning all kinds of good bloggy stuff. I can't wait!
And guess who I'm sharing a room with? Rachelle from TinkerLab—one of my favorite bloggers! We have e-mailed and talked, but live across the country from each other (she's in California), so we haven't met in person yet. Her flight gets in very late, so we'll probably be meeting in our pajamas tomorrow morning. I told her it was a good way to meet someone I felt I already knew.
Rachelle said something about sharing exclusive, behind-the-scenes, and possibly embarrassing photos of the conference... I'll bring my camera but can't promise embarrassing. You may want to follow Rachelle for that, although I'm planning to make her pinky swear to run photos by me before posting them. :)
I haven't been away from my family in almost three years (since before Daphne was born) and I'm a little nervous about how they'll do. Or mostly how Daphne will do. I'm sure Maia will be fine.
I had fun putting together little notes and gifts for them to open each day that I'm gone (as I've done in the past when Maia was younger). And, of course, I will talk to them on the phone. But It will be strange to be away from home.
However...
I'm still super excited!
